HYTHE 3rd XI vs SUTTONERS 2nd XI
Saturday 28th August
NORTH ON SONG AS 3rds ROUND OFF SEASON WITH A WIN
 |

Hythe 3rd XI completed their league season with a comfortable 87 run win over basement side Suttoners 2nd XI. The win put them above Camelot and gave them a 14th place finish.
Hythe batted first and an opening stand of 106 between Steve Miller 41 and Tony North 94 gave them a sound base for a good score. Miller was lucky though as when on 14 camera evidence showed he was stumped by a mile when given not out by young Pagey who must have nodded off when umpiring. Tom Huxley upped the pace with two massive sixes and Sam Page 12* and Ian Prentice 16* put on an unbeaten 23 at the end of the Innings - Hythe 220 -5.
Hythe's bowling opened with Josh Mead and newcomer Luke Walsh. Mead claimed the first wicket when he had Budden bowled for 1. Suttoners had boosted their side with 3 first teamers and their Firxt XI Skipper W.Murray looked to enjoy himself with the bat. At 15 overs Suttoners had moved onto 64 for 1 but in his 9th over Walsh claimed his first Hythe wicket when he bowled Dennet for 10. Two more with his final two balls in his next over (one a great catch by Sam Mead) had Suttoners 76 for 4. Walsh finishing with an impressive debut 3-27 off 10.
Alex Nicholas replaced Walsh only to struggle with 3 wides and a no ball but he did run out Nye for 0. McCarthy replaced Nicholas and after Murray hit him for a big six - super Kev got revenge with a rare caught & bowled - Murray out for 75 - Suttoners 99 for 6 off 24.
Hythe despite McCarthy's 1-29 off 9 and Ian Prentice 1-5 off 8 - they failed to bowl out Suttoners and had to do with 22 points - Hythe win by 87 Runs.
Nearly thirty players used this season by the 3rd XI but they achieved Woodys pre season goal - to avoid relegation. Next hopefully we can move onwards from 14th position.
Thanks to Woodsy for helping during the season, The Bryers, Gilberts and Anya for assisting but especially to Val and Gareth Mead for the excellent teas.
