Hythe First XI record their first win in 11 games with a well fought 4 run win over New Milton II's @ Fernhills . Chasing 177 for victory and at 172-7 New Milton lost their last three wickets without scoring
New Milton won the toss and elected to field first. Matt Young and Tom Richards got Hythe off to a solid start with 60 off the first 19 overs before Young was caught off Waller for 25. Mike Edwards and Richards upped the pace adding 73 in the next 18 overs with Richards passing a fifty. Edwards fell for 39 with the score on 133 and Richards soon followed for 56 which inc 6x4's.
With only 8 overs remaining Hythe tried io up the pace but lost Matt Howe 4 and Rich Froggett for 16. Rob James 11* and Zac Millar 3* took the score to 176 for 5 at the close. Pick of the New Milton bowlers Steve Taylor 3-36.
Hythe took to the field with legend Paul Whitlock in close attendance as umpire. Rich Froggett and Russell Moore soon had the home side in trouble at 40 for 3 off 11. Mike Edwards and Harry Smith then both took wickets in their first overs to have New Milton 68 for 5 in the 19th over. T.Hussey and A.Prodomo then added 67 for the 6th wicket before Gary Howe caught Hussey off Smith for 21 with the score on 135. Prodom then opened up with a succession of boundaries taking the score to 163 for 7 before Waller lost his wicket at the other end bowled by the returning Russell Moore. Nine more runs were added when New Milton needing only 5 to win - lost their last three wickets for no runs.
Mike Edwards bowled S.Tilbury and K.Lock in successive balls then Prodomo was caught by Richards off Moore for 87 - New Milton all out for 172. Hythe win by 4 runs.
