Hythe 2's are in poll position going into next weeks final league matches after a 7 wkt win over fellow promotion chasers - Brockenhurst. The Badgers batted first scoring 164 for 5 on a drying wicket. In reply a Tongs 60 plus an unbeaten 61 - 4th wicket partnership between Dave Guymer 39* & Luke Mills 32* won the game with 13 balls remaining. 15 points next week will guarantee the Green Caps promotion whilst they lead Ellingham by 1 point in the race for the title.

After heavy lunchtime showers the game went ahead on schedule. Hythe won the toss and skipper Mike Bowman elected to field first. Luke Blackwell got them off to a perfect start when he had Mallinson caught by Wright with the score on 5 in the 6th over. Williams and Kilsby then struggled to only 65 for 1 at drinks against some tight Hythe bowling. 23rd over Kilsby was well caught by Stovell in the covers off Wright for 28. Mallinson brought up his fifty with a boundary but with the score on 105 - Saunders came into the attack and then first ball had Pearson caught behind for 13. Saunders then had Batchelor caught by Blackwell for 5 - Brock 136 for 4 off 37. 26 were added off the final 4 overs. Williams run out on the final ball for 79. - Brockenhurst 163 for 5

Wright 1-26 off 10 the pick of the bowlers whilst Saunders 2-18 off 6 at the end if the innings proved crucial

Hythe's reply got off to a useful start with 33 of the first 10. In the 12th Saxon had Bowman caught for 8 - Hythe 36 for 1. Dixon and Tongs took the score to 78 for 1 at drinks. At 81 Dixon was bowled by Williams for 17. Guymer joined Tongs who brought up his fifty but with Batchelor proving difficult to get away with - with 12 overs left the run rate had increased to 6. At 104 Tongs fell caught behind off Williams for 60.

Mills joined Guymer who was now getting into his stride. Three Guymer sixes and Five Mills boundaries took Hythe to their target with 13 balls remaining. Guymer ending on 39* and Mills 32*.
