HYTHE XI vs WINGHAM CC (Kent)
Tuesday 2nd August
Opposition Scoring Record Smashed at Hythe
 |
| Sean TONGS 100* |
Kent Village Champions Wingham arrived at Jones Lane and immeadiately made friends by asking for ' two jugs of Lager please'
Great we thought - finally a touring side that drinks a bit. Little did we know they were also a very good cricket side. Wingham won the toss and elected to bat first. With three guys getting tons they piled up 392 for 6 off their 40 overs. The highest ever score recorded at Jones Lanes. Colonel Saunders who captained the side could have tried no harder with the ball as his 8 overs went for a decent 1-40. Unlike Jonjo's who went for 76.
In reply Hythe gave ait a real go and thanks to another Guru ton Hythe reached 245 for 8 in reply. The opening pair of Tongs 100 and Matt Young 31 put on 124 for the first wicket - This after Young blocked out 18 dot balls. Sam Long also scored 38. Tongs ton included 21x4's. Hythe second best by 147 runs .
