The final game of a difficult weekend saw Hythe Sun 2nd XI entertain Sway in the Tony Woodhouse. Both sides were excellent in their minutes silence and the way the game was played.
Sway who neede to beat the Green Caps - won the toss and elected to field first. Hythe lost a big wicket when Stovell was stumped for 7. At the other end 14 year old Elliott Carley played a great knock to score 27. A partnership of 78 between skipper Sam Mead & Matt Young swayed the game Hythe's way. Mead went on to score 66 inc 9x4's. Matt Young scored 25 and a unbeaten 8th wicket partnership between 13 yaer old Archie Gilbert 20* & Harry Smith 20* finished Hythe on 197 for 7 just 3 runs short of maximum points. Pick of the Sway bowlers - N.David 2-21 off 8.
Hythe gained a big wicket in only the 6th over when D.Steadman was bolwed by Alex Nicholas for 14. By drinks Sway had moved onto 73 for 4 with Pete Bennett holding up the innings. Nicholas finished a fine 5 over spell 2-16. Mills then claimed two wickets in his first over and when Harry Smith picked up the wickets of Bennett 37 & Marshall 15 it looked like another win for Hythe.
But an unbeaten 9th wicket partnership of 38 in 9 overs between Matt Bramwell 27* and Will Holyhead 11* saved the game for Sway - Match Drawn.
