NO SEASIDE FUN FOR FIRST XI.
Matt Howe 50
Hythe 1st XI fell to a 4wkt defeat at Mudeford on Saturday. Asked to bat Hythe posted 162 all out. Skipper Matt Howe made 50, Tom Richards 46. With Mudeford 125 for 6 Hythe were in with a shout but sadly it wasn't to be and County 3 next season looks inevitable.

Matt HOWE

Hythe's trip to the seaside ended in a 4 wicket defeat at the hands of Mudeford.

The home side won the toss and inserted Hythe into bat. Another shuffle of the batting order saw Hythe collapse to 23 for 5 but Tom Richards and Harry Smith started a recovery of 46 when Richards fell for 46. Matt Howe joined Harry Smith to add 65 for the 6th wicket. Matt Howe was run out for a very good 50 inc 5x4's & 2x6's. Then Smith was caught off Norton for 21. Hythe 134 for 7. Gary Howe then added 15 but the innings closed in the 43rd over - Hythe 162 all out.

Hythe claimed a quick wicket when Froggett had Patel LBW for 14. Russ Moore then bowled the dangerous Assinder for 4 - Mudeford 35 for 2. Moore impressed with an opening spell of 8 overs which went for just 10 runs. Gadd and Walker added 44 for the 3rd wicket before Bell caught Gadd off Stovell for 36. Banfield made just 4 before he was caught by Matt Howe off Smith. Soon after Boulton was bowled by Smith for 0 Mudeford - 101 for 5 off 24.

At 125 skipper Walker was stumped by Gary Howe for 43 off Smith - Hythe very much in the game. P.Heaton though had different ideas. He smashed 4x4's and a six in a quick fire 32* in 7 overs to win the game. Mudeford win by 4 wickets.

Harry Smith 3-26 off 10 Hythe's most successful bowler whilst Russell Moore 1-16 off 10 had his best spell of bowling for the First XI
