SARISBURY ATH 2nd XI vs HYTHE 1st XI
Hampshire County Division 2
Saturday 23rd July
No Luck - As Penultimate Ball Defeat at Allottment Road For First XI.
 |
| Matt YOUNG 84 |
Almost but not quite for the firsts as they fell to a penultimate ball defeat to Sarisbury on Saturday.
Hythe were put into bat - but thanks to Matt Young 84 and support from Richie Froggett 26 & Harry Smith 26 they posted a competative 192 for 8 off their 45 overs.- Though at 109 for 2 maybe they should have gone on to get more.
In reply Sarisbury were 33 for 2 off 7 then 72-3 off 15. A.Cressor 45 & C.Day 45 put on 70 for the 4th wicket but then thanks to the spin twins of Richards and Smith - Hythe hit back to take 6 wickets for 40 runs and set up a grandstand finish. Needing 4 to win off the final Matt Howe over Hammond hit a 3 off the second ball and Agha smashed the winning boundary off the 5th.
Good game played in great spirirt as the Sarisbury lads helped Hythe with the shock news of Woody. Shame about the result but good effort.
