HYTHE UNDER 13's vs LANGLEY MANOR 'A'
21st July @ Jones Lane
Under 13's Finish League Season With Defeat
 |
| Jacob MOULD 14 inc 1 six |
After 4 consecutive wins - Hythe Under 13's rounded off their league season with a 9 run defeat at the hands of Langley Manor.
On a damp wicket - Hythe fielded first and after a good start allowed Langley to get too many runs mainly through mis fields and lack of concentration in the field. After 3 overs LM were 13 for 2 - Bryers taking both wickets. Through James and Basil they'd doubled that lead at 6 overs. Hythe had to wait til the 13th over to claim their next wicket - a lucky one at that. The umpire gave Basil stumped by Gilbert off Swainston off a wide though it should have been a no ball for the ball bouncing twice 70-3
James retired on 30 - Bryers returned to bowl Jenkinson for 0 but some solid striking by McCarthy 25* and Trowbridge 11* took the score past the 100.Langley Manor 105 for 4 at the close.
Archie Gilbert and Ollie Pike opened the innings for Hythe - putting on a solid 42 for 0 after 9. With the run rate required now at 7 Pike opened up only to be judged LBW for 21 off Basil. Gilbert was then bowled by Basil and Hythe were 53 for 2 off 12. Jacob Mould kept Hythe in the game with a six and four before being LBW to Bancroft and the following ball Freddie Molyneux was caught for 0.- Hythe 65 for 4 off 14.
With 41 required off 4 overs and the dark closing in - Ali Bryers 20* and Ben Fenton 5* gave it a good go but fell 9 runs short.
Good close game - lets hope next Mondays Phil Pick Trophy game is the same but with a different outcome as Hythe bid to win the trophy for the third consecutive year..
