CADNAM vs HYTHE SUNDAY XI

| Tom RICHARDS 32 |
Hythe Sunday XI had a day to forget as they were well beaten at Lambs Corner in Sundays Friendly. 122 was never going to be enough and when Cadnam reversed their batting order they still came out on top putting on 74 for the first wicket.
Hythe won the toss and elected to bat first on a very hot afternoon. The Green Caps had a decent looking batting card on paper. But after just 5 overs they lost their first wicket when Stovell picked up a duck. The out of touch Roberts was then caught off the Veteran Biddlecombe for 5 and when Rob James was caught off Dunning for 17 - the Green Caps were wobbling at 24 for 3. Matt Young and Tom Richards did offer some resistance as they added 49 in 13 overs before Young 23 was bowled by Highfield's Eades who was playing his first game for Cadnam.
Knight-Owen was then stumped by the lightening Jewer for 4. Richards was then caught off Eades for 32 and when Sam Mead was bowled by the same bowler for 2 - Hythe were reeling at 94 for 7. Tongs hit two fours in his 14 but the tail collapsed and Hythe were all out for 122. Eades ending with 5 for 18.
Cadnam decided to give their usual tail of Matt Maiden and N.Walters the opportunity to open the batting. Knight Owen dropped a chance in the gully in only the 2nd over off Saunders. More chances went down latter on and to add salt into the wounds the pair then added 74 in just 16 overs for the first wicket before Walters was bowled by Moore for 28. Maiden went onto score a fine 38 before he was caught & bowled by Richards. He rode his luck on more than one occasion but thats what number 11's do. 95 for 2.
A member of the gallery asked Don't Hythe have any first team players playing which we had to chuckle about. It's the weather we said.
Jewer next in to join Peter Biddlecombe but the latter was run out for 9 - the pair misjudging Moore's fine throw in from the boundary. With only 25.4 overs gone Cadnam scored the final run to record a 7 wkt win.
28 byes didn't help the cause - to the amuzement of Zac sitting in the pavilion. As always the game was played in a good spirit.
