Well done to the Guru for geting the game on after persistant rain for the past few days. The visitors Greenheath were even more grateful after their previous two days of tour were washed out.
Hythe won the toss and stand-in captain Russell Moore forgot the touring match eticate and decided Hythe would bat first in a reduced 30 over game.
Stovell and Matt Young started well but surprisingly it was Young who fell first for 5. Maybe it the effect of those bits around his neck last week. Stovell added 1x4 and 1x6 in his 18 before he then fell caught off Houghton for 5. Hythe 34 for 2. Jack Knight-Owen in at 4 failed to trouble the scorer and he was stumped off Andrea for 1.
Hythe in trouble - never first teamers Richards and Page then put together a match wiining stand of 124 for the 4th wicket. Page entertained as he hit 8x4's 3x6's and a volvo before being caught by one of the catches of the season at Jones Lane. Richards in cruise control made Matt Young look quick scored 59 inc 8x4's.
Two more wickets fell as Hythe ended on 184 for 6 - a challenging total for the visitors on a damp wicket.
Sawyer and White started well for the tourists adding 40 for the first wicket before Jonjo Stovell bowled White for 20. Soon after he struck again when bowling Sawyer for 22. Mills then bowled Edgerhill - Greenheath 58 for 3.
A partnership of 56 between Gough and Williamson took the score to 108 and set up a tight last 10 overs before Mills got rid of Gough thanks to a Moore catch 32 , and Page had Williamson unluckily judged LBW for 23. Matt Young had Maher stumped by Tom Richards and when Mills run out Houghton 154 for 7. Dolby went for 18 and Moore came on to wrap up the tail with just 8 runs needed. A good game of cricket - played in a very good spirit - after all the rain this weekend.
