 MUDEFORD vs HYTHE UNDER 13's

16th June @ Ledbury Road

Still No Joy In The League For Under 13's.

Ben FENTON 19 & 2 for 19

Hythe Under 13's (10th) travelled to mid table opponents Mudeford (8th) on an evening where most of the County would have struggled to have got a game on through heavy rain. Hythe should have been confident of getting a win but after posting a below par a 81 for 8, the homeside went from 15 for 4 to 76 for 4 thanks to a 61 - 5th wicket partnership between Mudeford's E.Pearce and B.Dennett. Mudeford got home with 2 overs remaining.

Hythe batted first but lost Ollie Pike 2 and Archie Gilbert 6 early and when Sam Kelly 2 and Jacob Mould followed the Green Caps were struggling at 16 for 4 off 5 overs. By 9 overs Hythe had moved onto 42 for 5 as a partnership between Ali Bryers and Sam Fenton began to build. The pair put on 30 before Bryers was bowled for 19. Fenton continued the good work with Jake Larkin and anther 25 was added for the 7th wicket before Fenton was bowled by E.Pearce for 19.

Larkin 15* remained to the end and Hythe finished their innings on 81 for 8 which was going to be a tough ask to defend.

Following Huxter's mid match team talk Hythe took to the field and got just what they wanted - an early breakthrough. Ben Fenton bowled Keaney in only the second over and then 2 overs later bowled N.Pearce for 2 - Mudeford in trouble. By the 5th over Hythe had claimed two more wickets - Bryers dismissed Buckland 8 and then run out Bennett for 0.

Huxter was doing a Highland dance on the touch line as his boys ripped into the opposition - but then the home side began to take charge. By the half way stage Mudeford had moved onto 48 for 4 and the game was evenly poised. Skipper Bryers rung the changes with the ball but Turner and E.Pearce were taking control of the game. By the 14th over Mudeford were 76 for 4 and well in charge. Hythe did get another wicket when Gilbert run out Turner for a very good 27 but E.Pearce 28* saw the homeside home with 2 overs remaining.

Hythe now 1 win in 5 in the league and that opening day win against Sway seems ages ago. Fingers crossed fortunes will turn tonight with the rearranged Quarter-Finals against Totton & Eling.
