Hythe Under 11's had a real off day on Sunday as they were resoundly beaten by Beaulieu 73 Runs. Were they missing Woodsy !!! but well done to Beaulieu its the first time one of their sides has beaten Hythe in a colts match.
Captain Tom Knight-Owen won the toss and elected to bat first . Hythe's opening pair of Fraser Smith and Tom Ferrier were started cautiously against some tight Beaulieu bowling. Smith scored 1 but was out once whilst Ferrier scored 5 but was also out once. After 4 overs Hythe 196 for 2.
Sam Carley and Sam Jessney pulled it back for Hythe - Carley scored 7 but was out twice but Jessney top scored with 12 without being out. Hythe 205 for 2 after 8.
Skiper Tom Knight-owen batted with Jacon Wright and found the going tough. Between them the pair were out 6 times and scored only 7. Hythe 182 for 8 off 112.
Lewie Fay batted last with Robbie Bassett but the pair couldn't stop Beaulieu taking 4 more wickets. At the close the Green Caps were 219 for 14.
Stand in Coach Sam Mead asked for a better effort in the field but Beaulieu powered there way to 281 for 3. The three wickets to fall - 2 went to Tom Knight- Owen whilst the other to Lewie Fay. Best bowling for Hythe Lewie Fay 1-8 off 3.
For Beaulieu Loach took 4-11 with the ball, Kilford 3-19. With the bat Kilford top scored with 14. For the past two years Beaulieu have played well below their age group yet they turned out every week, got beaten but improved with each game. This season they are at the right level and its reaping the rewards - well done to them.
