Hythe 2nd XI chased down 210 in just 36 overs to win at Lordshill vs Soton Travellers
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first on a hot afternoon. The opening pair put on 30 in just 4 overs before Blackwell bowled Allen for 4. P.Locke was then caught by Blackwell off Simon Wright for 11 - Travellers 49 for 2 off 11.
Holmes and Chowdry added 23 before Holmes was caught behind off Last for 21. Hythe kept the pressure on and got two more wickets just before drinks. Sriram was bowled by Wright for 1 and Parnell by White for 4 - Travellers 82 for 5 off 21.
A 5th wicket stand between Chowdry and Naz of 63 frustrated Hythe before Chowdry was caught by Blackwell off Mills for a very good 61. White then bowled Naveen for 1 - Travellers 160 for 7 0ff 32. Kelly was then caught by Blackwell (3rd catch) off Mills for 5 - 177 for 8. The final 5 overs added 22 and Travellers finished 205 for 8 with Naz 59*. Wright Hythe's best bowler 2-35 off 10 whilst Mills backed him up well 2-29 off 8.
Hythe started badly when Tongs was stumped off Burrows for 7. Bowman and Dixon added 49 for the 2nd wicket before Dixon fell - bowled Chowdry for 27 - Hythe 62 for 2 off 9.
Bowman and the in form James Page then took Hythe to 112 for 2 at drinks. Bowman brought up a nother good fifty but in the 23rd over Page was bowled by Parnell for 30. Dave Guymer joined his skipper and the pair added an unbeaten 89 in just 13 overs to win the game. Bowman ended 74* inc 9x4's - Guymer 53* inc 9x4's. 23 valuable points to the Green Caps in a comprehensive win.
