HYTHE XI vs IVANHOE (Leicestershire)
Friday 3rd June
Hythe Sink Tourists
 |
| Harry SMITH 35* |
The first Twenty20 of the new season saw a Hythe XI entertain Ivanhoe form Leicestershire.
The Green Caps batted first and lost Sam Mead in the first over. However Matt Howe looked in menacing form and he and Matt Young took the score to 50 before Howe was ct & bd for 33. Young 18 and Tom Richards 15 made useful contributions but at 80 for 4 off 12 the game was even.
An unbeaten partnership however of 57 between Harry Smith 35* and Jack Knight=-Owen 23* took Hythe to 138 for 5 at the close.
Ivanhoe in reply never looked like challanging the total after Stovell sent back both openers early. Saunders picked up a wicket and 3 run outs kept Hythe on top. Only 29* from Parnell at the end took the score into triple figures as the tourists ended 106 for 6.
They complete their tour with fixtures against Lynchmere and Hurst.
