They'll be no cup final for the Green Caps as Hythe were well beaten by Fawley in the First Round of the Stone Cup.
Hythe missing several key players - won the toss and elected to bat first on a windy night at the Waterside Club. Hythe started badley when skipper and in form Mike Bowman was run out for just 2. Tongs and James Page added 35 for the second wicket before Tongs was caught off Thomas for 14. Hythe at 56 for 2 then had a slump losing three wickets for 1 run.
Page was stumped off Earl for 21 - Guymer caught off Earl for 7 and Mills judged LBW for 0. Ewan Bell 14 and Zac Millar 19* added 23 for the 6th wicket but the Green Caps just didn't get enough runs on the board - 98 for 7 at the close.
Needing a good start - White had Kieran Earl caught behind by Zac Millar with the score on just 6. Alfie Cole and Elliott Earl added 33 for the 2nd wicket before Cole was caught by Bowman off Prentice for 20. - Fawley 39 for 2.
Earl and Steve Rice then added 39 for the 3rd wicket til McCarthy removed Rice for 8 - much to the amuzement of Super Kev. But that was as good as it got for the Green Caps and Fawley got home with 11 balls remaining and 7 wickets in tact. Good luck to them for some silverware this year.
Hythe have 5 days to reflect then its the same opposition in the league on Saturday - Second v Third in South West 2.
