CHALKY ARRIVES ON CUE TO BAG WIN
 |
| Wayne EFFENY 5-43 |
Hythe 2nd XI opened their league campaign with a 4 wkt win over Swan Green.
Hythe won the toss and elected to field first. Blackwell removed Craig for 1 thanks to a Mills catch but then Chanda and Lines added 102 for the second wicket. Seasoned campaigners Wayne Effeny and Ian White brought Hythe back into the game as Effeny took 5 for 34 and White 3 for 45. The Swans went from 140 for 1 to 188 all out.
Hythe started well through Sean Tongs and Mike Bowman adding 43 for the first wicket. The Green Caps then lost three quick wickets but Tongs stood strong hitting 60. At 80 for 5 things looked in the balance but Ewan Bell and Dave Guymer 18 (inc one towering six) steadied the ship. Bell was then joined by Chalky White who smashed 4x4's to set up the victory and Bell 46* saw Hythe home to maximum points.
