Hythe Sunday XI beat Locks Heath yesterday to record their first Sunday win of the season. Nine man Locks Heath borrowed Sam Page and Tom Knight-Owen to make up their numbers and made 154 for 7 off their 38 overs. Hythe in reply got home with 2.5 overs to spare thanks to a 87 run partnership between Sean Tongs and Tom Richards.
A delayed start after Jonjo dug a trench on the pitch with the roller and The Guru had to prepare another pitch. Locks Heath batted first and got off to a good start through J.Paskins and M.Bridges. 42 coming off the first 6 overs. Saunders then bowled Bridges for 20 and then Stovell damaged the visitors by bowling Smith for 0 and then having their overseas star Bennett caught first ball. Stovell ended his spell 2-25 off 8.
Paskins and J.Read lead a recovery Until Paskins was caught by Mills off Jack Knight-Owen for 50. Read was then run out for 28 and Losks Heath then struggled to 154 for 7 off their 38 overs.
Hythe started badly losing Bell for a duck Zac Millar hit one towering six before baing caught & bowled by Sam Page for 9. The Green Caps 22 for 2 off 11 overs. Richards and Tongs then put on 87 for the 3rd wicket in 18 overs before Tongs was caught for 37. 11 year old Tom Knight-Owen bowled an impressive 4 overs for 21 on his senior debut ( though it was for the oppo) Richards then passed fifty before running out Jack Knight-Owen for a duck.
James Page and Richards then added the final 24 runs required with 17 balls remaining. Richards ending on 74* and Page 12*
