HYTHE UNDER 17's vs SWAY
Thursday 5th May 2011
GOOD OPENING PERFORMANCE BY U17's DESPITE RESULT
Despite a fine unbeaten fifty from skipper Matt Young - Hythe Under 17's fell to a 20 run defeat at the hands of Sway on the opening day of the New Forest League campaign.

| Matt YOUNG - Retired 50* |
Harry Smith gave Hythe & Dibden the perfect start by bowling J. Moore in the first over. However, J. Steadman (28) and H. Woodfine (14) scored steadily at a good run rate. Woodfine was bowled by Alex Nicholas and Steadman was run out in the same over. Sway continued at a good rate but lost a number of wickets in the eighties. L Symons (39) played a major part in Sway reaching a very reasonable 120. The seven bowlers used did well. Particularly, of note was the way our team fielded; a reflection of the good coaching this past Winter.
In reply Hythe & Dibden's opening pair Harry Smith (14) and Zac Millar (18) had a good opening partnership of 26. Harry was then caught and bowled just when he was looking threatening. Keiran Chalmers and Chris Griffin were both out soon after. Matt Young joined Zac and pushed the score on to 51. Zac was then caught after a hard fought 18. Nick Shrive hit a couple of good fours but was then bowled. The light was getting really bad at this stage. Matt continued to farm the bowling and reached 50 (5*4's) and 2*6's) and had to retire. The team reached 100 for 6 wickets at the end of the innings. A loss by 20 runs.
Hythe & Dibden players put up a very good show and should be proud of their performance. Thanks to Sally for scoring and Andy Woods for umpiring.
