Hythe 2's vs Brockenhurst
Hythe 2's Remain On Sway's Tail
Bellie 28
Hythe 2's beat Brockenhurst to keep the pressure on Sway at the top of the table. Hythe are 5 points behind the leaders with two games to go.
Hythe put into bat the badgers got off to a perfect start thanks to the oppositions opening bowler - 8 of the first 9 deliveries being wides. But when the ball stopped swinging Hythe lost both openers in quick succession. Effeny bowled by Corr for 5 and Tongs by Kilsby for 9.
Not for the first time this season - Hythe owed their respectable total to an innings of 28 from skipper Ewan Bell inc 4x4's and a six. Matt Young 16 and Mike Bowman chipped in as Hythe lost their last four wickets at 122.
A getable score - Hythe needed to bowl and field well. Brock lost both openers to run outs. Bell run out Kilsby for 10 and the dangerous Wickinson was run out by Matt Young for 9 - Brock 21 for 2. Mallinson was well caught by Moore off Young at wide Mid-off for 7 and when Rogers was bowled by Effeny for 1 it looked game over.
Culverson 33 and Corr 10 did show some resistance but in the 10th over Hythe claimed victory by 31 runs. Young finishing with 2 for 21.
Hythe have Ringwood and Milford to play whilst Sway need to drop points against either Milford or Brockenhurst to do Hythe a favour.
Bellie would like to thank Matt Howe for scoring and Tom Richards for umpiring.
