Hythe Receive ExxonMobil Grant

ExxonMobil Colts

Thanks to Tom and Dave Huxley - Hythe & Dibden Cricket Club are delighted to receive a grant of £1,000 from ExxonMobil issued as part of its Volunteer Involvement Programme (VIP).

The donation will be a massive bonus to Hythe who are looking to purchase an outdoor net - which will enable the colts to benefit from 1:1 coaching in safer conditions, as well as new protective gear such as new helmets, gloves and pads.

The ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Programme (VIP) encourages employees and their families to contribute their time, talent and energy to local charities and non-profit organisations. To assist and recognise their efforts, they provide contributions to the organisations that their employees and their families support.

Hythe were successfully nominated by Tom Huxley and his father Dave who both work for the company. Tom last season passed his ECB Level 1 Coaching Badge enabling him to manage the Hythe Under 11's. Tom was also vice captain of the Sunday XI as well as played for the the Saturday 3rd XI who won Hampshire Central 4 and the Under 17's. To cap a fine season Tom also took a hat-trick for the Under 17's against Sway to the amazement of both sets of players.

2011 sees Tom step up to manage the Under 13's - Tom says ' Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see these youngsters progress and hopefully one day make the Senior sides.”

This season Hythe will be running four Colts sides in the New Forest Junior Leagues at Under 11's, 13's, 15's and 17's age groups.

The whole Colts set up is overseen by Richie Froggett - himself a ECB Level 2 Coach. Richie added: “We are tremendously grateful for this funding and the hard work put in by Tom and Dave - encouraging the young players who will hopefully be our next generation.”
