Hythe Slip Up In Mid Table Battle

Hythe 1's lost their mid table clash with New Milton by 3 wickets on Sunday after struggling to an under par 109 for 6 batting first.
Hythe scored 16 off the first two overs but with the first ball of the third over Steve Taylor bowled Matt Howe for 9. Tom Richards smashed a six before falling to a stumping off Edwards for 14 - Hythe 36 for 2 off 4. Rob James was next to go with the score on 61- he was caught & bowled by Edwards for 14. 61 for 3 after 7.
Harry Smith was bowled by Tilbury for 3 but a 33 run partnership between Richie Froggett 37 & Zac Millar 6 took the score to 109 before the final two wickets fell in quick succession. Froggett hit 3x6's in his 37.
Hythe got the early breakthrough when L.Miller was caught & bowled by Tom Richards for 5. D.Miller & S.Tilbury added 29 before Tilbury 3 was run out by Froggett with a excellent piece of fielding. New Milton 34 for 2 after 4. D.Miller retired on 25* bringing the experienced Steve Taylor into join T.Edwards. At the half way stage New Milton had moved onto 51 for 2 off 6. Hythe had to wait til the 9th over to claim another wicket - when at Taylor was bowled by Froggett for 22. Edwards and Lucy Beck then saw off the win with 10 balls remaining - Edwards scoring 18*
Its the big Cup Quarter-Final next week 5-6pm against unbeaten Paultons. Get along and support the lads. They almost beat them in the league so you never know.
