WIDES PROVE COSTLY AS 1'S BEATEN BY OSCC

By Web - December 6 2010
Hythe 1's were beaten by 10 runs on Sunday at the Hands of Ordnance Survey who batted first scoring 147 for 4. The Green Caps didn't help themselves as they gave away 45 runs in widesthough some credit goes to the opposition who played the 'tip & run' game very well. Tom Richards proved Hythe's best bowler 1-30 off 3. In reply Hythe got off to a great start - 21 coming off the first over. Tom Richards hit 4x6's in his 35* and Matt Howe made 25*. Zac Millar scored 16* at the end but Hythe fell 10 runs short.

Hythe 1's vs ORDNANCE SURVEY

Wides Once Again Prove Costly As 1's Lose Out To OSCC

Tom RICHARDS 35* inc 4x6's

Hythe 1's were back in action this week and hoping to continue the good form they showed against Fawley. Newly promoted Survey won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair of Bance and Heritage got them off to a good start with 30 coming off the first 3 overs thanks to some excellent running between the wicket.

The score moved to 54 for 0 off 5 as the green caps started to to spray the wides. As Mr.Heritage mentioned on their website Hythe's opponents were certainly experts in the 'tip and run', however in the 6th over he missed a straight one and was bowled by Richards for 18.

Survey pushed onto 88 off 8 when Bance retired. Homewood joined Curtis before the latter was judged run out by Jonjo for 7. Homewood was then run out for 11 and Survey were 105 for 3 off 10. Pore was then run out for 1 which did Hythe no favours as it brought brought back Bance to join Drudge and the pair added another 42 in two overs to take the score to 147-4 which included 45 in wides.

Hythe got off to a cracking start through Matt Howe and Tom Richards - 21 off the first over including 2 x 6's. Hythe had reached 60 for no loss at 5 when Richards retired. That brought Rob James to the crease but he missed his first ball and was walking back to the changing rooms - bowled by Drudge. - Hythe 68 for 1 after 6.

Harry Smith came in at 4 but was well run out for 6 as Hythe had to increase the run rate. Matt Howe retired which brought in Richie Froggett to join Zac Millar. But it was too late for 'the Frogster' to do any damage and he was caught for 4. Richards returned with Hythe needing 32 off the final over. A first ball four followed by a couple of wides and a six brought the scores closer but OSCC finished deserved winners largely due to their enthusiam to 'hit and run' instead of slog. As for Hythe - need to sort out the wides. Richards finished 35* an innings which included 4x6's

Matt would like to thank Woody for scoring, Jonjo for umpiring and the good support.
