Hythe 3's vs Fawley 2's
Sam Mead's One Man Show Not Enough
Sam MEAD 63*
Fawley 2's gained a win over Hythe 3's to remain unbeaten and take revenge for last weeks Hythe 1's win over Fawley 1's.
Not even a superb batting performance by Sam Mead 63* was enough as the Green Caps went down by 11 runs - though Fawley were helped by 13 wides giving away 53 extras.
Jonjo Stovell brought back his experience players for the local challenge and after winning the toss he elected to field first. Fawley's main man - Wayne Smith gave Kev McCarthy a little respect before opening his shoulders. But on 22 Stovell ran Smith out for just 10.
John Doe and Scott Rollinson added 55 for the 2nd wicket assisted by some wayward Hythe bowling (no less than 6 being bowled off the mat - mentioning no names . Doe was run out by Sam Mead and just after Scott Rollinson retired 26*. Kev Glass and Steve Rollinson continued pressing forward with the score before Glass was run out by Tom Huxley for 11. Steve Rollinson 17* saw Fawley through to a challenging 138 for 3 at the close. Hythe best bowler Kev McCarthy 0-27 off 3 aginst his old club.
Hythe needed a good start and Sam Mead and Tony North added 22 before North was run out for 8. Skipper Stovell was then run out for 4 and the collapse continued when Josh Mead was cruely judged LBW for 0 - Hythe 49 for 3. Sam Mead continued to play his shots well supported by Tom Huxley. The pair added 38 before Huxley was run out for 14 and Kev McCarthy was out soon after for 2.
This left Sam Mead on his own and he took the green caps to within 10 of the oilers total finishing on 63*. What a shame Hythe gave so many extras away otherwise they would have been celebrating a victory. Fawleys best bowler - Ben Bolton bowled 3 overs 1-20
