Hythe 1's vs Bransgore
Howe's Knock Not Enough As 1's Lose Opener
Matt HOWE - 28 Not Out
A new look Hythe 1's faced newly promoted Bransgore on the opening day off the New Forest Indoor League Season with three lads making their Division 1 debuts. The Green Caps with Matt Howe 28* put up a good chase before going down by 15 runs.
Hythe took to the field first to try out the new bouncy track at Priestlands.
Hythe got off to the perfect start when Froggett had Jones caught by Matt Howe for 1. Byfield and Butcher added 52 for the 2nd wicket before Harry Smith had Butcher caught by Zac Millar for 11. Byfield went soon after for 19 - LBW to Tom Richards. Bransgore were soon 87 for 4 when Richards claimed his second wicket - that of Baker to a catch by Matt Howe. Bransgore 5th wicket pair of J.Hicks and W.Wright then added an unbeaten 48 to take the final score to 135 for 4. There were 39 wides by the Hythe bowlers which certainly didn't help the cause
Hythe opened with skipper Matt Howe and Tom Richards. The pair added 43 before Richards fell to a catch off Jones for 15. Howe and Richie Froggett kept Hythe in with a chance. Howe took his score to 28* before having to retire. Froggett added 19 before being run out and when Harry Smith was run out for 10 - Hythe were 107-3.
Rob James 16* and Zac Millar 9* added an unbeaten 13 for the 4th wicket but Hythe ran out of overs and to a 15 run defeat.
Well done to Bransgore and a good effort by all three of Hythe's new debutanats in the top league.
Matt thanks Woody for scoring and Jonjo for stepping in as umpire at the last minute.
