Hythe 3's vs New Milton 2
3's Off To Winning Start
Tony NORTH 25 Not Out
Hythe 3's got their Indoor League campaign off to a winning start with a 3 wicket victory over last seasons Division 3 champs New Milton 2's.
An unbeaten 4th wicket stand of 40 between Kev McCarthy and Tom Huxley gave Hythe the win with 15 balls to spare. Hythe skipper Jonjo Stovell said ' We won it with some tidy bowling and some excellent fielding by all six players - reducing the young New Milton side to just 100 for 5 off their 12 overs'. Stovell's 3 overs went for just 18 off his 3 overs and Josh Mead making his Indoor debut taking 2 wickets.
Hythe's batting got off to a good start thanks to the experience of Sam Mead & Tony North They put on 31 before Mead was out to a very good catch for 13. Stovell (5) soon followed after a mix up with the running and Josh Mead did the same out for 3. Tony North carried his bat for 25 not out but with 40 still required it was down to Kev McCarthy 23* and Tom Huxley 12* to take the Green Caps to victory. I asked Kev how many boundaries he hit - he said ' None thats why I'm so knackered from all that running, but great start'
Jonjo would like to thak Matt Young who umpired & Woody who scored, plus the Hythe spectators who came over to support the team with plenty of vigour and youth full exuberance
