Hythe and Dibden 2nd Xl suffered their biggest defeat of the season at Barnes Lane Milford. Rain interruptions didn't help but their were no exceuses from the Hythe lads who admitted the Milford lads bowled very well. Milford batted first scoring 168 for 9 - Hythe 59 all out.
Milford batted first against a Hythe attack without Moore, Edwards, Harry Smith and White. Going was slow on a damp wicket caused by a groundsman error. Just 19 came off the first 10 overs as Saunders and Last bowled very well. The breakthrough came in the 12th over when Gregory was caught behind by Gary Howe for 7.
A partnership of 79 then proved crucial between P.Langford and C.Bond despite the efforts of Last who finished his 10 overs 1-15. Drinks Milford were 79 for 1. Langford was finally out caught by Saunders off Powell for 40 then Saunders caught Bond off Effeny for 48.Milford 129 for 3 off 33. Hythe then hit back Effeny removed J.Brown and J.Boynton before Last, Bath and Saunders took one a piece and despite an interruption Milford made 168 for 9.
At tea Hythe's target changed on the reduced rate to 157 off 37. But the green caps were soon in trouble as Matt Young was run out for 8 in just the 4th over. Next over Hythe were 9 for 2 when Bowman was caught by Lewis off Jones for 1. Wayne Effeny and Luke Mills did add 25 in 6 overs before Thorp took a double blow for Milford. First he had Mills bowled for 12 and then next ball had Richard Last out for 0.
Throp then had Effeny bowled before J.Brown did one better and got three wickets in an over. Bell (5), Saunders (0) and Bath (0) Hythe reeling at 44 for 8 off 15 overs.
Soon after Powell went for 4 and Ecclestone 0 leaving Gary Howe 8 not out and Hythe 59 all out.
