Captain Jonjo Stovell guided Hythe and Dibden to win the Tony Woodhouse Trophy with 3 wins and a draw. The final Victory came on Sunday against a stubborn Fawley side which Hythe finally beat by 42 runs. Hythe batted first scoring 177 for 6 dec - Fawley in reply were all out for 135

Jonjo lost the toss and the visitors were put into bat on a surprisingly dry pitch. Hythe opened the batting with Luke Mills and Andrew Woods, with Fawley opening their bowling with M Head. Mills was out at the end of the first over for just 2 and this brough Kieran Chalmers to the crease. Charmlers was out 4 overs later with an excellent catch in the slips by D Head and when Woods was out LBW 3 overs later Hythe were struggling at 21-3.

An excellent partnership between Sam Long and Zac Miller rescued the green caps from this tricky situation. Sam Long finally fell to the bowling of Francis after making 37 which brought Matt Young to the crease. Young and Miller continued to pile on the runs to take Hythe to safety and edge them ever closer to 150. The partnership was finally broken when Miller was bowled by Mac for 36 as the green caps pushed on in the final overs and then Matt Young was just one run short of his fifty when he was caught of the bowling of Head. Richards and Knight-Owen continued the push and got Hythe to 177 for 6 in their innings.

Fawley need 178 to win

Hythe opened the bowling with Luke Blackwell and Sam Long, both of whom got maidens in their first overs. Blackwell got the first break through in the 3rd over when he had Matt Head bowled for a duck. Long and Blackwell continued but in vain with an excellent partnership to open the bowling. It was not until Tom Huxley was brought on that the next wicket of Clarke fell after making 13 with Huxley clean bowling him.

Jack Knight-Owen was brought on from the opposite end, but it was Huxley that was doing the damage with two more clean bowled to dismiss McClhenny for 35 and then Dean Head for just one. Knight-Owen continued but even with a number of chances just missing the stumps he unfortunately wasn't able to pick up a wicket.

Captain Stovell had decided it was time to bring himself on and bowl off spinners. He picked up the wicket of Francis in his first over. At the other end he brought into the attack the leg spin of Richards and he also picked up a wicket in his first over with the stumping of Burbage. Richards had further sucesses Picking up the wicket of Pothecary. Stovell had decided he'd had enough of bowling off spin and reverted back to his usual brick pace and was rewarded with the wicket of fellow skipper Reed who had made an very good 53 to keep Fawley in the game. Richards picked up the final wicket with a catch taken by Mills which sealed Hythe's undefeated status in this years Tony Woodhouse Trophy.

Well done to all the lads who helped Hythe win the trophy - absent from the picture above - Sam, Josh and Gareth Mead, Russell Moore and Harry Smith.
