Phoenix Crush Hythe & Deserve First Win
You have to go back to the eighties to find the last time a Phoenix side have won at Hythe. Well done to them though they thoroughly deserved this win after having the Green Caps 100 for 9. Only an unbeaten 10th wicket partnership of 62 between 'hop a long' Tony North and 12 year old Ali Bryers saved Hythe from further embarrasement.

Hythe welcomed back Phoenix to Jones Lane for their annual fixture. Quinney had to revert to several first team players with Jonjo's side up at Fawley.
Phoenix won the toss and asked Hythe to bat on a drying wicket - playing a time game. Adriaan de Jager opened the innings with Tom Porter after both missed out the previous day. Porter went in the first over for a duck quickl;y followed by de Jager for 12 - and when Bell joined them back on the sidelines Hythe were suddenly 43 for 3. Matt Howe hit a whirlwind 27 inc 6x4's and Tongs 16, Last 11, and Chris Loader 2 didn't fair much better - Hythe 79 for 7.
Tony North came in at 8 but soon aggrievated his archilles - however he carried on and steadied the innings. Saunders went for 6 and skipper Quinnell a duck as Hythe were 100 for 9 with Chiv shouting out that tea is nowhere near ready. Not to worry though Ali Bryers to the rescue - despite getting hit in the adams apple he and Northy added an unbeaten 62 for the 10th wicket to take the score to 162 for 9 at tea. Bryers 12 not out & North 57 not out.
Hythe took the field looking for quick wickets and they got one in the shape of Dan Owens who was excellently caught by Tom Porter off Saunders for 2 - Phoenix 20 for 1 off 5. Ali Bryers bowled 5 useful overs 0-22 before Matt Howe came on to get the second wicket - A.Price caught & bowled Matt Howe for 3 - 40 for 2.
At drinks Phoenix were 71 for 2 and it was even game. Things form there didn't go Hythe's way S.Harris scored 73 not out inc 7x4's & 1x6 and Shabbir 49 not out inc 8x4's as they shared an unbeaten 122 partnership in 23 overs to win the game.
De Jager tried his best 0-22 off 8 but Hythe were below par and need to up their game before next weeks game against County 1 Bedhampton
