Friday 9th July HYTHE XI vs HYTHE VETS FOOTBALL
Sean TONGS 58*
Bowman's Gets Revenge On Footballers.
Last year Hythe Vets Football tried their luck against a Hythe XI and won - This year there was no way it was going to happen again as Mike Bowman fielded a side that included 8 players with 1st XI experience.
The Green Caps batted first scoring 149 for 4 off their 20 overs. Sean Tongs 58* & Harry Smith 48* adding 98 for the 5th wicket. Tongs hit 7x4's whilst Smith hit 5x4's and a six.
The Vets got off to a flier with ex Hythe Phil Swainston hitting Matt Howe for two sixes but by the 10th over they were struggling at 49 for 6. Skipper and another former green cap Kev Glass hit 36 not out but in the end Vets finished on 101 for 8. A good effort. Rob Saunders took 2-17 and Chalky White 2-17
