UNDER 15's DEMOLISH PYLEWELLS BATTING LINE UP

By Web - July 1 2010
This Under 15 game was over before it even got going as the Hythe bowlers ripped into Pylewell's batting order. It took just 12.3 overs to bowl the home side out and Hythe to knock off the runs - even after 'The Coach' reversed the batting order. Kieran Chalmers took 3-3, Chris Griffin 2-2, Josh Mead 2-3 and  Tom Smith 2-8 with the ball for Hythe. Richard Jones scored 21* in the reply

HYTHE UNDER 15's vs PYLEWELL PARK

20th June @ Jones Lane

UNDER 15'S WIN IN DOUBLE QUICK TIME

Chris GRIFFIN 2-2Kieran CHALMERS 3-3

A devastating and hostile opening fours overs blew Pylewell Park away before they had a chance to get going!!

It was a bright sunny but chilly morning in Hythe for the visit of Pylewell Park. From previous results a close game was anticipated at Jones Lane.Having won the toss skipper Kieran Chalmers put Pylewell into bat not knowing what was about to unfold!

Josh Mead and Kieran opened the bowling. First ball of the match saw a reluctant finger point skyward as it brought a plumb LBW decision for Josh with the first wicket of the match going down. Before the over was out a terrible mix up in the Pylewell Park running meant a comfortable run out executed by Richard Jones and both the openers trudging back to the clubhouse. Next up Kieran came on and took a wicket clean bowled and an LBW in one over. Josh came back with a clean bowled of his own followed by Kieran again who had the number 6 wicket caught by Sam Long. So, by the end of 2 overs each for Mead and Chalmers and a few dropped jaws bemused by the procession of batsman toing and froing the scoreboard read 4 overs 8 runs for 6 wickets! It was pure devastation!

In an attempt to prolong the game and mix the bowling around Kieran immediately took himself and Josh out of the attack bringing on Tom Smith and Jack Knight Owen. Alas for Pylewell there was no let up and whilst Tom's over went for 8 runs he mopped up 2 wickets of his own one clean bowled and one caught by Chris Griffin. Jack bowled a tight over going for just 4 runs. With only 2 wickets left to pick up Kieran changed the bowling again with Nathan Froggett also bowling well and only going for 6 off his over followed by 5 balls from Chris Griffin. Yes, you've guessed Chris picked up the last 2 wickets in his 5 deliveries courtesy of a clean bowled and a catch from Jack Knight Owen.

So, a day for Pylewell Park, that they will look to quickly forget left them on just 32 runs all out from 7.5 overs. It didn't matter for this week but 21 of the runs were extras with just 11 from the bat - bit tricky to tell the boys off after a performance like that tho ;-) On to the run chase and apart from leaving Richard Jones in as an opening batsman Kieran all but reversed the batting order sticking himself and Josh at 10 and 11 with Zac pitched down at 9. After a team effort of persuasion Marc Reid went out to open with Richard as Marc was yet to face a ball this season. Richard soon got into his stride and got the scoreboard ticking along. Marc finally got to face his first ball which was negotiated safely. Next one was dispatched back over the bowlers head for 2 runs and the nerves should have gone with it. However, excited by the success Marc went for another lusty ball to a straight one and sure enough it hit the stumps and his batting was over for the day.

The rest of the short innings of which there were only a total of 4.4 overs saw Richard Jones hit a few boundaries with some good shots. Whilst Richard was merrily scoring all of the team's 21 runs from the bat (with the exception of Marc's 2) there was a steady flow of our own players walking to and from the clubhouse to the square as Sam Long, Jon Bryce and Nathan Froggett were all out for ducks unfortunately. Still, it was nowhere near in doubt and Richard saw us through to the very convincing win with Tom Smith left not out on naught.

What was anticipated to be a very close came was anything but and Pylewell left feeling a bit sheepish and probably frustrated as their results show they can play better than that. They were caught cold on the day but take nothing away from the Hyhe and Dibden U15s who forced home a very good win.
