Hythe Sunday XI beat Robins by 36 runs - though at 4pm you'd have thought theyw ere in for a thrashing at 90 for 9. Hythe batted first with Matt Howe (23) but the middle order collapsed before a 60 run - 10th Wkt stand between  Addie de Jager (54*) and skipper Paul Quinnell (18) helped Hythe to 150 all out. Robins were also in trouble from the 4th over and in the end were shot out for 114. HYTHE SUNDAY XI vs ROBINS

Sunday 13th June

Tail End Fightback Earns Win

At 90 for 9 it looked like Hythe's bad weekend was continued but a 60th - 9th wkt partnership between Adriaan de Jager and Paul Quinell took the Green Caps to 150 all out which proved to much for the improved Robins. De Jager batting at 8 scored 54* and Tom Porter 4-23 did the damage with the ball and Rob Saunders taking 2-0.

Tom PORTER 4-23

Hythe welcomed back Robins to Jones Lane for their annual fixture. Quinney won the toss and choose to bat first. Matt Howe opened with Andrew Woods and it was like watching the hare and the snail. Howe smashed his first 5 scoring shots to the boundary whilst Woodsy took the Boycott approach.

Robins claimed their first wicket in the 6th over - Woods bowled by Waller for 2. Soon after Howe was bowled by the same bowler for 23 and when Rob James (11) Mike Graham (1), Greg Woods (6) and Rob Saunders (0) all fell quickly it looked like a very early tea. Hythe 57 for 6.

Tony North found support in Addie de Jager. The pair added 33 before North was bowled by Crossley for 12. Bath and Porter then fell for ducks and the green caps were struggling at 90 for 9. Skipper Paul Quinnell batting at 11 joined de Jager and started the recovery. A 60 wicket 10th wicket stand took them to 150 before Quinnell was bowled by Adams for 18. De Jager left stranded on 54 not out.

Robins equally got off to a bad start losing two wickets in the first 4 overs. One a piece for Tom Porter and Tim Bath. 36 was then added through R.May and O.Chapman before two wickets fell at 43. Saunders had May LBW for 28 and then had D.Crossley LBW for 0. Robins 43 for 4.

O.Chapman was then bowled by Howe for 3 - 52 for 5. A 36 run stand for the 6th wicket between J.Waller and W.Crossley took the score to 96. With that the old alarm bells were ringing in Quinneys ear and therefore brought de Jager into the attack which upset a few of the opposition. Waller was caught & bowled by de Jager and then two more wickets fell almost immeadiately. Crossley was caught off Porter for 5 and then Seymour was run out for 1. The score became 100 for 9 when Porter bowled M.Adams for 0 and tibs finished things off having Walls caught for 2.

Robins 114 all out and a Hythe win by 36 runs. Tom Porter finishing with 4-23.
