Hythe Under 11's pulled off their finest win of the league season so far after notching up 296 for 1 with tha bat. This despite the absence of leading batsman Jacob Mould. Farley scored 251 for 1 to give the Green Caps a 45 run win. Freddie Molyneux top scored with 13.
Hythe's youngest side made their longest journey of the season on Sunday to face Farley just outside Salisbury.
Hythe's won the toss and elected to bat first. Hythe's first pairing of Tom Ladbury (10) and Jack Ashton Ashurst (4) got them off to a good start 221 for 0 after 4. Lewis Faye (2) & Tom Knight Owen (5) continued the fine work and at the half way stage the green caps were 244 for 0 edging towards the Farley total.
Hythe's third pairing of Freddie Moylneux (13) and Sam Copley (2) added 21 however Copley lost 1 wicket - Hythe 265 for 1 after 12. Pieter Lever (9) and Harry Swainston (11) just had to keep wickets in tact to win the game and they did it well - taking the Hythe score to 296 for 1 at the close.
In reply Hythe did well to reduce the home side to 251 for 6 from their 16 overs. Lewis Faye was the star man with the ball taking 2-22 off his 3 overs. Tom Ladbury 1-3 off 2 was the most economical. Freddie Molyneux took the only catch.
A fine win for Hythe's youngest side proving how far they have come since the start of the season.
Well done to the Coach Tom Huxley even though he's jumped ship next week to go to the I.O.W Festival
