Pylewell Park vs Hythe 1st XI

Saturday 5th June

WHATS HAPPENED TO THE MIDDLE ORDER !!! AS FIRSTS CRASH AGAIN

Adriaan de JAGER 80	Rob SAUNDERS 6-54

Another middle order batting collapse resulted in Hythe suffering their 3rd league defeat of the season at lowely Pylewell Park. An under prepared pitch didn't help but it was as under prepared as the Hythe middle order batting card as once again they folded without trace.

Pylewell made 204 for 9 with Rob Saunders taking 6 for 54. Richie Froggett 1-29 off 9 was Hythe's most economical bowler. Hythe in reply scored 185 all out - Adriaan de Jager top scoring with 80.

Hythe opened up the bowling with De Jager and Froggett and it wasn’t until the 11^th over with the score on 45 that the former picked up the first wicket of Royan LBW for 18. Both openers were then taken off and replaced by Saunders and Smith. Saunders trapping Woolgar LBW in his 2^nd over for 20 and then bowling Manning for 11 in his 3^rd over.

Scriven then joined Brooks and added 40 for the 4^th wicket before Ben Smith had Brooks well caught by Tom Porter at square leg for 28. Pylewell 111 for 4 off 24. Clive Kitcher joined Scriven and for the next 13 overs kept the score moving along adding 45 before Scriven was caught by Saunders off the returning Froggett for a well crafted 48. Saunders then returned and after going for 14 in his first over he picked up the wickets of Nicholson and Dolbear Bowled, Clive Kitcher well caught by Rob James on the boundary and Matt Kitcher LBW. Saunders ending with 6-54 off his ten overs and Pylewell Park ending on 204 for 9 off their 45 overs.

Hythe’s response got off to the worst start when Howe was bowled first ball for 0. De Jager then joined James and added 71 for the 2^nd wicket in 18 overs before James was trapped LBW for 27. Froggett joined De Jager, but was soon back in the pavilion bowled by Manning for 0. Wright and De Jager added 50 in 15 overs against some tight bowling before Wright was bowled by Royan trying to up the run rate. Kev James then was caught off the bowling of Royan for 1.

Skipper Dixon joined De Jager who reached his 50 and then went after the bowlers. Royans 9^th over Wicket maiden, his 10^th over went for 20 as three 6’s were smashed out of the ground by De Jager. Dixon was then out first ball of the next over given out LBW but, 10 runs was still taken off the over as Adi hit yet another 6. But then disappointment as Adi was bowled by the returning Manning by a ball that stayed low. Porter and Saunders then went quickly and that left Smith and Barge to get Hythe over the next batting Bonus point before Smith was Run Out in the final over for 12 leaving Hythe 20 runs short.
