HYTHE UNDER 13's vs RINGWOOD
3rd June @ Jones Lane
Maximum Points For Under Strength Green Caps .
 | |
| Alex NICHOLAS 3-7 | Sam KELLY 33* |
Hythe Under 13's put in a top peformance despite being without several key players. After a promising Ringwood start the Hythe bowlers got on top and reduced the visitors to 90 all out. Harrison Smith and Alex Nicholas taking 3 wickets a piece. In reply Elliott Carley 29* and Sam Kelly 33 retired not out set the green caps up for a win and maximum points.
Hythe lost the toss for the first time and Ringwood elected to bat on this fine Summers evening Ringwood openers J.Fisher and G.Bratt commenced the innings with a fine start, scoring 5 boundaries and with the green caps giving away 11 extras in the first 6 overs they moved onto an impressive 48 runs. It wasn't until the eigth over when Elliot Carley caught Bratt for 29 off Alex's opener that we had any hope of staying in the match. I can't be the only person to be looking at the scoreboard of 68 runs off 8 overs and wondering what total they would have off 18 overs. Harrison then bowled the opener J.Fisher in the 9th over for 22 runs with the scoreboard on 69 runs.
Alex and Harrison bowled some tight balls and the Ringwood collapse started. Harrison took 3 wickets for 17 off 3 and Alex 3 wickets for 7 off 4. Jordan Blandford then helped finish off the innings with 2 wickets for 6 off 2 overs. The fielding was good and the 2 U11 lads Neal Reid and Jacob Mould stopped some certain boundaries and we were grateful that they could make the numbers up for the U13's. Ringwood were eventually all out when they were run out on the 3rd ball of the last over with a score of 90 runs.Hythe openers were sent into bat with plenty of back up down the order with a 5 run per over required.5 byes in the first over helped and we kept up with the run rate all the way through the innings.
Elliot Carley and Sam Kelly both batted themselves into the game and put on a partnership of 50 in the 7th over. Sam hit some cracking 4's and eventually retired on 33 not out. Harrison Smith then came in to support Elliot and hit 6 runs not out off 7 balls maintaining his +100% strike rate. Elliot hit the winning shot of the match with a superb 4 and eneded up 29 not out and the green caps finishing on 94-0 off 11.1 overs. The best batting display we have had so far. Well done lads.
