HUXLEY HAT-TRICK EARNS UNDER 17'S FIRST WIN @ SWAY

Tom HUXLEY - Hat-Trick

Hythe Under 17's pulled off an excellent 7 wkt win on Thursday over at Sway.

Star of the show Tom Huxley who got himself into the clubs history books with a hat-trick. Sway batted first scoring 91 for 9 off their 18 overs with Huxley finishing with 3-19. Jonjo Stovell took 3-23. Hythe in reply got home with 9 balls remaining and 7 wickets - Matt Young 28*

On a lovely sunny Thursday evening, Hythe Under 17's made their way over to rivals Sway in search of their first league win of the season. The wicket itself was very good and had something in it for both the bowlers and batsmen. For the first time the white ball was introduced to the under 17ns and it was very beneficial for the second innings.

Richie’s men got put into the field by the Sway skip. Hythe went out with complete motivation to try and search for their first win. The new ball was taken by Richards and Powell. Both bowling very tight lines and had Sway on 17 off the first 6 over’s. Then Stovell and young Josh mead came onto bowl and both proved their potential by following up the tight bowling. Then Hythe decided to start looking for wickets instead of keeping the openers in so they could gain points. Straight away wickets came with Stovell taking two in one over. Also Mead got in on the act with taking two wickets in his tight spell.

Going into the second part of the innings and Tom Huxley came onto to bowl and from the off also looked to be bowling tight lines consistently to the middle order. Then in his third over he split the middle order open with a well earned Hat Trick. This consisted in one very good catch followed up by two clean bowled's to become only the second colt to get a hat trick in recent years. Very well done to him and overall summed up a very good all round fielding display from every bowler and fielder as they all put in solid performances.

Both Stovell and Young were the men to open the batting for Hythe’s run chase. It didn’t get off to the best of starts as Stovell went for a duck in the first over chipping to gully. That brought skipper to the crease who looked to of calmed things down with Young for a few over’s before Richards was bowled for 8. Then Sam Mead came in and also looked in good touch before getting bowled to a slow loopy ball not even pitching for 17. Then that left Zac Miller and Matt Young to get through until the end and did so very well both rotating the strike and both punishing the bad balls. Miller ended on 11 not out whilst Matt Young played a very good anchor role and made 28.

A great evening and a awesome victory against rivals Sway. Everyone made very influencing contributions and fulfilled their jobs. Special well done to Tom Huxley for getting his first ever Hat trick.
