HYTHE UNDER 15's vs SWAY

9th May @ Hythe

SPIRITED FIGHT BY UNDER 15'S OVER MORE EXPERIENCED SWAY

Chris GRIFFIN 2-23	Kieran CHALMERS 33*

36 Over colts match producing over 250 runs and a broken windown - Top Stuff but the target of 140 proved just too much for the Under 15's who fell just 19 runs short.

A day for the batsman as Hythe Under 15's took on a more experienced Sway side which included Hampshire's Dave Steadman. Sway batted first and despite 8 useful overs from bowling openers Kieran Chalmers 0-18 and Josh Mead 0-17 they took the rest of the Hythe bowlers to the sword. Steadman retired on 40* and opening partner N.Gallagher scored 35 including breaking the youth club window with a 6. (Teach them for not listening toour concerns). G.Wooley also made 26 before Chris Griffin bounced back with two wickets near the end. Griffin also impressed in the field stopping at least 3 boundaries with his enthusiasm.

The Green Caps put in a sterling effort in reply Zac Millar was bowled for 30 whilst opening partner Josh Mead was run out for 32. Skipper Kieran Chalmers added 33 not out including one towering six onto the roof of the Clubhouse as Froggie's young lads fell just 19 runs short.

It's going to be a tough learning year for the Under 15's with 90% of the team still in the same age bracket next year and that will be Richie Froggett's aim to get them ready for a challenge with the big boys next year.
