Hythe 3's vs Clayhill Dragonslayers
Hythe 3's Sign Off With 3rd League Win But Clayhill Make Them Fight
 |
Hythe's 3's concluded their Indoor Season with a 27 run win over Clayhill this evening.
Hythe batted first scoring 175 for 4 off their 12 overs with Tom Richards 29*, Sam Mead 27, Matt Young 27 and Tony North 27* all in good form.
Clayhill needing 15 an over made the green caps fight for the win and matched the Hythe scoring upto the 10th over. Hythe finish the season in a respectable 6th place - who would have bet on that after the first game of the season.
Clayhill won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Hythe opened once again with the pairing of Sam Mead and Matt Young who have impressed so far this season. The pair got off to a strong start putting 52 on the board in only the 4th over. Both then reached 27 and had to retire which brought in Tom Richards and Tony North. By the half way mark the green caps had moved onto 75. Richards and North moved on to retire and by the 10th over Hythe had progressed to 140. A strong 11th over saw Hythe add 30 runs but in the final over - four run outs somewhat blemished the Hythe scorecard. Stovell went for 12 followed by McCarthy 1, Matt Young returned only to be run out for 27 and Sam Mead was also run out at the end for 27. Hythe finishing on 175 for 4 - Tony North 27* and Tom Richards 29*
Clayhill got off to a similar start with 11 coming off McCarthys first over. Then Matt Young took the wrap of Hannan - going for 26 in the 2nd over. Both Hannan and McNally retired and at 6 overs Clayhill were 62 for 1 after Kev McCarthy bowled Proctor for 8. At 106 Clayhill lost their 2nd wicket when Sam Mead run out Steadman for 8. Winter retired then Sharpe went for 0. Hannan and McNally returned but next ball McNally was run out for 26. 41 was needed off the final 2 overs but Richards got rid of the dangerous Hannah when he was caught off the roof for 55 and in the final over McCarthy ran out Winter for 29. Clayhill all out for 148 their highest total in their first season of Indoor Cricket.
Kev McCarthy finished with 1-24 off 3 with Tom Richards capping a fine game 1-26 off 3.
