Hythe 3's vs Hyde
Hythe 3's Gain First Win
 |
| Matt YOUNG 12 & 2-23 |
Hythe 3's pulled off a well deserved first win on Sunday against Hyde by 2 Wkts. Jonjo Stovell won the toss and elected to field first against a side that beat Sway last time out.
Hyde got off to a decent start thanks to some early wayward bowling. But in the 4th over King Kev found his line to take two wickets in two balls thanks to two very good cathces from Tom Richards. Sadly the thought of the hat-trick got to Kev and the next ball went went miles wide. Matt Young then bowled young Shutler and Hythe gradually took control. Young took his second wicket after a he did well to get a hand to Sims shot and parried it to Richards for the catch. Hyde recovered to finishing on 110 for 4 thanks to M.Shutler 29* and S.Daniels 14*.
Hythe opened with Tom Richards and Sam Mead and the pair started cautiously against some good Hyder bowling. Mead went caught & bowled for 8 and Richards (8) soon followed. As the pressuer grew thanks to some fine running from Matt Young and Tony North, the Hyde bowlers began to lose their length resulting in a generous number of wides. Both Matt Young (21) and Tony North (15) fell to run outs but it was left to the skipper Jonjo Stovell (4*) and Kev McCarthy (7*) to see Hythe home with 7 balls to spare.
Next up Champions elect New Milton 2 in two weeks time. Why the likes of Steve Taylor, Beck and Vibert are playing Division 3 heavens knows.
