MEAD STARS AS HYTHE 3's FALL JUST SHORT.
Sam MEAD 42
HYTHE 3's LEARNING OF THE INDOOR GAME CONTINUED WITH A 9 RUN DEFEAT AT THE HANDS OF AN EXPERIENCED SWAY 2 SIDE. SWAY SCORED 146-4 OFF THEIR 12 OVERS WITH MATT YOUNG TAKING 2-37. 12 AN OVER WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE TOUGH FOR JONJO'S YOUNG SIDE BUT SAM MEAD 42 & MATT YOUNG 26 KEPT THEM IN IT TIL THE FINAL OVER. WITH 18 NEEDED OFF THE LAST 6 BALLS THE EXPERIENCE OF SWAYS DAVE MARSHALL PROVED TOO MUCH AND SWAY WON BY 9 RUNS. BUT A GOOD EFFORT FROM THE GREEN CAPS.

Hythe 3's vs Sway 2's

Big Improvement By Hythe 3's In Close Defeat

Sam MEAD 42

Jonjo Stovell's Hythe's 3's put in a big improvement to their game before going down by just 9 runs to an experienced Sway 2's on Sunday. Sam Mead top scored with 42 and with Matt Young 26, kept the Green Caps in the game right to the end after being set 147 by the opposition whose knowledge of the game under pressure told. Matt Young also took 2-37 for Hythe.

With both sides losing their opening games it was Sway who won the toss and elected to bat first. Hythe got off to the perfect start when Tom Richards run out S.Hannibal and Tom Richards caught R.How off the bowling of Kev McCarthy. Sways recovery came in the shape of their middle order R.Clark 36 not out, Rob Steadman 40 and Dave Marshall 25 not out. Sway ending on 146 for 4 off their 12 overs. For Hythe Matt Young picked up 2 wickets but the most economical was skipper Jonjo Stovell 0-28 off 3 with 7 dot balls.

Hythe needing 12 an over opened with Sam Mead and Tom Richards who both started cautiously before Richard was well caught off the wall by Steadman off Marshall's first ball. Mead and Matt Young however continued to play well and by the half way stage Hythe were very much in the game at 66-1.  Both players retired then fine bowling from Bramwell and Steadman threw the game back in Sways favour. Jonjo Stovell was run out by a mile with the score on 99 then Kev McCarthy was run out for 10 after hitting a six. Going into the last 2 overs Hythe needed a tough but possible 34 to win.

Clark bowled the penultimate over which went for 16 runs but did claim the crucial wicket of Sam Mead for a fine 42. Hythe therefore needed 18 to win off the last over which was to be bowled by the experienced Sway 'old head' and skipper Dave Marshall. Hythe should have had 3 wide runs off the first ball ' according to the bowler' but then 2 wickets later in the over meant a deserved win for Sway. But no disgrace for Hythe whose side included 4 under 17's - a win will come before the end of the season.

Thanks to Woody for scoring and Matty for umpiring.
