Final Day Win In Sussex For Green Caps As Bargey Takes 5 & Guru scores 51

'The Guru' 51	Tom Barge 5-37

Hythe's final fixture of the season saw them travel down to West Sussex to face Sunday village side Westbourne. As last year the game went to the final overs with Hythe winning by 5 wickets chasing 195. Hythe weclomed back Matt Howe and he and Tony North put on 75 for the first wicket. Howe made 38 and North 30 whilst there were also good contributions from Sean Tongs 51 and Matt Young 42.

Earlier in the day after being put into bat by Pagey - Westbourne recoverd after losing an early wicket - and through R.Dickin 73 and Lodges 36 the homeside took control of the game. The Hythe bowlers though fought back with Tom Barge taking 5-37 - his second fiver of the season. Tom Richards also did well taking 3-25 as Westbourne were reduced to 194 for 8. Funny old game cricket though - last years 6 wicket match winner Harry Smith took 0-40 off his 7 overs.

For the second season running - a good game of cricket going down to the wire and played in good spirit which makes the journey well worth it.

Well done to Pagey for sticking with the the captaincy throughout the season and doing a very good job with mostly a young side.

And finally if anyone one is concerned - yes Jonjo did make it home on the back of Northy's motorbike. Jonjo said ' I was shi--ing myself for the first 10 minutes but after that it was good fun'.
