BRAMSHAW vs HYTHE SUNDAY XI

Sunday 23rd August

Sunday Friendly Cricket At Its Best - Except The Result

BARGEY

Always The Ladies Man - Celebrates His 5-45

Sunday saw Pageys Sunday XI take the short trip across the forest to take on Bramshaw - No better place in the County to get a sun tan and runs. Thanks to the guys who made the side upto eleven in what was a good friendly game played in a fantastic spirit. The home side rattled up 288 for 7 off their 40 overs with M.Alford making his maiden century. Tom Barge took 5-54 well done to him. Hythe were all out for 204 with the Guru capping a FINE weekend scoring 62 including 11x4's.

On a beautiful afternoon Hythe ended up in the field after losing the toss. By 10 overs the home side had rattled up 89 for 0 and Army Rob musty have wished he stayed in the Nelson. Tom Rogers hit a swashbuckling 51 for the homeside before falling bowled by Tom Barge at 81. Hythe had to wait till the 13th over for their next breakthrough when Barge caught and bowled Stutchbury for 18.

There was a great friendliness about the game which is not always the case nowasays and army Rob even had his own butler bringing out pints to the field and the umpire holding them between balls. The Guru laid against the corner of the boundary fence watching the golf and mis fields by the plenty. Even Army Rob gets like Paul Quinnell every day.

M.Alford and T.Arnold two of Bramshaws brightest youngsters then ammassed a partnership of 126 for the 3rd wicket in just 18 overs. Arnold went for 45 well caught by Tongsy on the boundary edge ( edge of the square at Hythe) and the returning Rob Saunders had J.Martin LBW for 0. Alford brought up his ton and was finally out for 118 stumped by Matt Young off Barge an innings which included 19x4's and 2x6's. Bramshaw 251 for 5 off 33 overs.

Barge then got his five for bowling Whitcher for 1. Some great banter between 10 year old nortern lad Josh Rogers and army Rob kept the Hythe spirits up and Hythe even kicked the ball over the boundary to earn Josh £20 from his dad. Little did army Rob know that next over he was top do it for real. 288 for 7 the final score but not before Barry Stovell showed Jonjo how to bowl 1-1-0-1 another wicket in his one game a year.

The Hythe batsman would never have a better opportunity to get a good score and Kev James opened up with Jonjo Stovell. Unfortunately Jonjo didn't understand that and was caught behind for 1 early on. Jamser looked the old Jamser as he smashed 4 lovely fours in the first three overs but then missed one and out for 16. Tongsy joined Matt Yopung in the middle and that brought 97 more runs in 17 overs - before Tongs was out LBW for 62. Zac Millar joined Matt Young adding just 9 before Young was caught for 28. Hythe 126 for 4 off 24.

Only Harry Smith 24 and Rob Saunders 31* put up any sort of fight as the game crawled to a close with Bramshaw the winners by 84 runs. The highlight though has to be young Rogers getting his own back on army Rob who earlier in the day took off the bails with the batsman walking to far out of his crease.

Good game played in a great spirit what a shame so many Hythe batsman missed out.
