HYTHE UNDER 13'S vs SWAY

9th July @ Hythe

Kieran CHALMERS

30* & 4-0

Coach Away But Hythe Under 13's Role On With Another League Victory.

With the majority of the club away on tour, including the team Manager, it fell to the parents and other club members to rally round and host Sway for their league fixture - which they all did - our thanks to them.

Sway won the toss and elected to bowl, them being a mid-table team we were expecting a close match and the opening over didn’t disappoint - a maiden from Nailor with Jack Knight Owen biding his time. Zac Millar at the other end obviously wasn’t in the mood for playing the waiting game - his first strike of the match running away for 4 - from that point on the flood gates were open with Millar striking fours to all corners and Jack running the singles to rotate the strike, eventually being run out going for a 2^nd. The run fest continued with Millar (31), Chalmers (30) & Jones (30) all retiring, leaving Froggett & Mead to come in on the last over and get one apiece - not out. Best of the Sway bowlers the opener Nailor.

So, a quick change around and the Sway batsmen were ready for the off - so, it seems, were our bowlers - A Nicholas sending a screamer down the hill and taking out the opening batsman with his first ball - one happy bowling side, one very sulky batsmen who disappeared into the changing room and wasn’t seen for a good half hour. Sway’s number 3 smacked a 4 off the first ball and was caught out by Carley off Nicholas on his 4^th. Hythe kept the bowling and fielding tight with Jones only going for 3 off his first over - 2 overs, 7 runs, 2 wickets. Kieran then decided to unleash the secret weapon - himself - clean bowling off the 2^nd ball of his first over and taking 3 wickets in his 3^rd - not quite sure what was in the orange squash at half time but his figures were 3 overs, 3 maidens, 4 wickets.

The rest of the Hythe bowling machine was also on top form - with R Jones, Josh Mead, Sam Long, Elliott Carley and Harrison Smith never conceding more than 4 off an over and all taking wickets (bar Harrison - but he only got to bowl 4 balls) and we got the final Sway batsmen in the 13^th with a direct hit run out from Long in the field to finish off Sway 32 all out.

A great team performance - especially bowling - with 6 of the wickets falling clean bowled and a nice group of people from Sway.
