Under 13's Make It Through To Semi-Finals With Fine Team Display.
Hythe Under 13's have made it through to the Semi-Finals of the Forest Cup with a resounding win over previously unbeaten Alderholt from the Northern Section. Richie Froggett's lads are the first Hythe Colts side to reach the Semi's for 18 years.
Hythe & Dibden Under 13’s have made it into the New Forest Cup semi-finals after a complete match performance over previously unbeaten Alderholt. Having won the toss (again) Kieran elected to bowl at Alderholt and restrict the North league side to a chaseable score. It worked to plan - Sam Long and Richard Jones opened the bowling and both bowled tightly, restricting the visitors to 28 runs off the first 8 overs. Sam finishing with 4 overs for 8 runs, Richard 4 overs 2 wickets for 19 runs.
After bowling changes with Kieran entering the attack - not a lot changed and, backed up by superb fielding by himself, he, Elliott and Josh finished the innings off with just a total of 71 runs to chase. Kieran finished 4 overs 1 wicket 10 runs; Josh 4 overs 2 wickets 12 runs and Elliott 2 overs, 1 wicket for 14 runs.
Hythe’s innings started steady - knowing the required rate was 4 an over to win. Jack Knight Owen (last week 30 not out) went for a duck but Zac & Kieran pushed the score along at 5 an over and reached 30 off 6 playing straight and sensibly but putting away the bad balls when required. Zac was dismissed first with the score on 48, Kieran followed with the score on 50 in the 12th over. Richard Jones finished the game quickly hitting 23 off 15 balls, Nathan unable to make an impact with the bat, finished 0 not out. 73 runs came up in 14.5 overs and Hythe were through to their first semi final in 18 years.
