Batting Collapse Means Rare Defeat For Under 13's
Hythe (4th) recorded only their 2nd league defeat of the season as they were beaten at Jones Lane on Thursday by Mudeford (2nd) in a low scoring game.
| More up dated report to follow after Froggie's got over the disappointment. |
Hythe skipper Kieran Chalmers won the toss and elected to put the seasiders into bat. The coaches plan of holding his main two bowlers back to first change made no early difference as Richard Jones 2 ripped into the Mudeford top order. Jones ended with 2-15 off his 4 overs and then the coaches plan came into great effect. Josh Mead took 1-14 off his 4 overs plus got a run out, but the star of the show was Kieran Chalmers who in 4 overs took 4-6.
Only strubborn resistance from Mudeford number 10 batsman Simpson (16) stopped the green caps from ending the innings much earlier as Mudeford finished on 91 all out off 17 overs. Elliott Carley taking the final wicket.
Hythe got off to a decent start through Jack Knight Owen (10) and Richard Jones (13). The big blow for the green caps was losing Chalmers for a duck. Zac Millar however took control hitting an unbeaten 30* . Unfortunately no one stayed around to bat with him as batsman numbers 6-10 went for just 4 runs. Nathan Froggett batting at 11 did support but ran out of time as he finished on 7 not out and Hythe on a disappointing 69 for 9 to suffer 22 run defeat,
