Hythe Under 15's Lose To The League Leaders & Quality Outfit Langley Manor
Hythe Under 15's put in a brave performance before going down to League Leaders and former Hampshire Cup Finalists Langley Manor on Sunday Morning.
Roy Peter's side looked a well drilled and impressive unit just like we are hoping Froggie's trying to do with our Under 13's.
It was no surpirse that The Green Caps took to the field first against the league leaders who rustled up 152 for 1 off their 18 overs. Todd Powell took the only wicket to fall as J.Budd retired 40 not out, J.Waterdige 38, D.Morrison 31* and A.Shipp 23* overwhelmed the Hythe bowling attack.
Powell 1-19 off 4 was the most respectable of the Hythe bowlers and Sally Harding said the most disappointing thing was that Hythe's fielding wasn't as sharpe as its been over the last few weeks.
So when Hythe went into bat it was a case of how many bonus points they could reach. They lost Nick Shrive for a duck but then a good partnership between Matt Young and Harry Smith (34) showed a good crowd that Sally's team is not the walkover they have been in the past. Unfortunately Young run out Smith and Hythe had one of their mini collapses including Young caught for a very good 34. Zac Millar with 13* steadied the ship and pushed the score upto 92 for 7 at the close.
A defeat of 60 runs but they won't face a better side this season and the guys can look forward to a winable game at Sway next week.
