PYLEWELL PARK 'B' vs HYTHE UNDER 13'S

12th June @ Hythe

Richard JONES 33* James BIDWELL 3-8

Hythe Under 13’s Make it 5 out of 6.

The Under 13’s kept on the winning streak with a very comfortable win over Pylewell Park B away.

After winning the toss Kieran elected to bat and, after the heroics of Monday night at Bramshaw, Jack Knight Owen and Richard Jones opened the Hythe innings and steadily grew the total with sensible batting and good running.

Richard Jones, whose been a bit out of form recently with the bat, returned to his usual self with the assistance of some friendly bowling from Pylewell and he retired first in the 10th over for 33 runs. Kieran joined Jack and pushed the score on to quickly reach 99 from 13 overs. Jack retired in the 14th on 31 – including 20 well run singles. With the score at 112 Nathan joined Kieran and scored 9 from 7 balls but, with the score on 123, Kieran was given out bowled from what looked like a no ball (not a good decision by the umpire – RF, probably not the last time you’ll be out to a bad decision Kieran – ask some of the first team!) Nathan was run out, again, with the score on 134 allowing Zac Millar and Alex Nicholas to finish of the innings – both scoring 6 runs, the final total – the highest of the season so far – 146.

Bowling – probably Hythe’s strongest area of the game - went to plan. Kieran bowled first – only giving away one off the first over, Josh coming on 2nd took the first wicket – caught by Richard Jones at extra cover – Pylewell 2 for 1 off of 2 overs. Kieran, not wanting to be outdone by his bowling partner, then proceeded to take 3 wickets in one over, all clean bowled. Pylewell 2 runs for 4 wickets off of 3 overs.

Josh Mead finished his spell - 3 overs, 1 wicket for 3 runs, Kieran – 2 overs, 3 wickets for 1 run. Bowling changes saw Sam Long & Harrison Smith take over, with Sam bowling a wicket maiden with his second, Elliott Carley taking another catch at gully, 8 overs down – Pylewell 19 for 5.James Bidwell took over from Sam Long and in his first over he caught and bowled K Scriven – the only Pylewell batsman to reach double figures. His next over was more devastating – 2 more wickets (1 a stumping from Millar as wickie) and 2 run outs from Jack Knight Owen finished the game off and Pylewell finished 33 runs all out. James finished on figures of 2 overs, 3 wickets for 8 runs.

Credit to the Opposition - Pylewell played with a great spirit, were a credit to their club and never gave up in the field.

Another win for the Under 13’s but a far more challenging game awaits us next week with the visit of Mudeford.
