TRAINING MATCH
SJ.KELLY'S '8' Vs AJN.GILBERTS '8'
Sunday 24th May
Training Match Success As Under 11 Season Finally Gets Under Way.
In the face of the Under 11s fourth cancelled fixture a ‘training match’ was hastily put together. With the help of Sue and Ritchie and some keen members of the Under 13s squad, two teams comprising mixed ages, abilities and experience donned their whites on the hottest day of the year so far. The match was their first ever for some, and the first of a season that seemed destined to never start for others,
Whilst the actual results did not matter, some notable performances were seen: Sam Kelly totalled 23 runs, including 3 hit for 4; Tom Copley’s debut as Wicket Keeper; Neal Read had the only clean bowl of the match; impressive first bowling from Matt Bennett, Brandon Keates and some of the youngest members of the Colts. Not to mention Nathan Froggett, as the Gilberts’ WK drove his mother mad in his attempts at run outs.
A fun morning was had by all and now all the Under 11 squad will face their first league and cup matches of the season with some match experience under their belts. Huge thanks to all involved for making it happen.
