NEW FOREST UNDER 17 LEAGUE

HYTHE UNDER 17's vs PYLEWELL PARK

Thursday 28th May

Poor Batting Hythe's Demise.

On a pleasant evening a good size crowd turned out to watch Ben Smith's side attempt to win their first game of the season. But a sub standard fielding display and poor batting resulted in 70 run defeat against an older Pylewell Park side which included a few County 2 players.

Back at the helm and parading in fromt of his young lady Ben Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first. Smith opened with himself and Tom Richards and it was Richards who struck in the 2nd over when he had Manning caught by Huxley for 5. Smith was surprisingly wayward bowling his seam up and Huxleys first over went for 10. But Three overs later and Richards the Fantasy Leagues worst points achiever, struck again when Bell was caught by Harry Smith. Pylewell Park 41 for 2.

Dolbear looked in good form and struck 46 before holing out to Ben Smith off Blackwell, His knock included 5 fours and a six. At the 12 over mark the visitors were 76 for 3 and heading towards a 130 score. But through Luke Blackwell 3-10 off 4 and the returning Ben Smith 2-17 off 4 the green caps reduced Pylewell to 106 for 7 off 18 overs which could have been even lower but for some sloppy fielding in the final overs.

Hythe's response was initially slow with 2 scored off the first 3 overs plus Stovell fell caught for 2.The Pylewell bowling was quick and full and Huxley and Richards struggled to get the ball away. Both threw their wickets away and Hythe never recovered. Sam Mead top scored with 7 and with 4 players getting ducks - Hythe struggled to 36 all out (by far their worst batting performance so far)

Praise though to the Pylewell bowlers. S.Homan claiming 5 for 14 off 4 overs.
