Hythe & Dibden vs LANGLEY MANOR

11th May @ Jones Lane

Hythe Bow Out Of Cup At First Hurdle

On a pleasant evening Hythe once again showed their lack of experience at the shorter game when they bowed out of this years Presidents Cup at the hands of Langley Manor by 31 Runs

The Border league experts were always in command of the game after Craig Render got them off to the perfect start with 73 including 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Langley Manor won the toss and elected to bat in the light. Hythe got off to the worst possible start with the players minds seemingly elsewhere. 22 runs came off the first 2 overs and 52 off 5 as Renders and Kevin Cresswell (22) took a shine to the Hythe bowling. Jon Wealls 2 overs went for 17 and Richie Froggett's first 2 overs for 23. Hythe best bowler on the night was Chalky White who went for 1-22 off 4. Ben Smith 1-17 and Wayne Effeny 2-18 took the other wickets as Langley Manor finished on 147 for 4 off their 18 overs.

Hythe in faiding light didn't find such a blistering start. 25 came off the first 4 overs but they lost Sean Tongs (15) in the process. In form Richie Froggett (4) didn't last long and with the run rate creeping up all the time the incoming batsman had to have a go from ball one.

The James brothers took the score to 69 before Kev was judged L.B.W for 15. Mike Edwards hit a blistering 6 before being bowled for (12). James Page (1) soon followed and when after hitting twop quality 4's - Wayne Effeny went bowled for 12. Hythe skipper Rob James let loose to hit a four and six before holeing out for 45 and Hythe chances were gone. The rest just crumbled in the gloom and Hythe were 116 all out - losers by 31 runs.
