Runs For Fun At Lymington As Under 15's Lose Opener
Despite having one player down and using three Under 13's Hythe put in a decent performance at the Lymington Sports Ground this morning.
The Lymington wicket as always favoured the batsman and nearly 200 runs were scored in 36 overs of cricket.
The Green Caps took to the field first as the Linnets piled up the runs. Zac Millar took the only 2 wickets - the 1st caught by Harry Smith and the 2nd a clean bowled. Todd Powellhowever was probably the pick of the bowlers - his 4 overs went for just 16 runs Lymington finished on 120 for 2.
Hythe opened the batting with Matt Young and Harry Smith and both batted well against the opening bowlers. Unfortunately though they got bogged down with the 2nd string bowling attack who where straight but less pacey. Neither batsman looked like getting out but went about 5 overs without adding to the total which is not ideal with 9 batsman still available for an onslaught.
Coach Sally Harding wasn't too down beat though, she said 'It's easy to nit-pic on the boundary when you can't see what the ball is doing!!
Young and Smith took the score to 72 before Harry was finally first out for a very good 33. Hythe ended their innings on 72 for 1 with Matt Young carrying his bat for 35* whislt Tom Smith was 0*
Sally says well done to the 3 Under 13's who played and did very well.
